According to sources around the league, the Mitsubishi Diamond Dolphins of the JBL have acquired 7-foot Mexican-American center Adam Parada (213-C-81, agency: Octagon, college: Cal-Irvine) for the upcoming season. The soon-to-be 27-year old U.S.-born, Mexican national team member has played in Jordan, Korea, and the Philippines since finishing his career at UC-Irvine in 2004.

| Hong Kong Men's Basketball team won the title of the Strait Cup 2008, as they defeated Fujian SBS Xunxing 86-81 in the host final at Southorn Stadium on 27th July. Glen Hayes was the ultimate professional in the ESL this summer and had a positive personality with the ESL staff, players and officials.
He was very entertaining as he coached and often cracked jokes with the referees and opossing players during the game.

| The 20th Edition of the FIBA Asia Junior Championship is going to be held in Iran from August 28 through September 5. The draw for the competition was recently held at the Azadi Basketball Hall. The tourney will enjoy the participation of sixteen teams. They were divided into 4 preliminary groups. China, Japan, Hong Kong and India got into Group A.  | | Yuta Tabuse (175-G-80, college: BYU-Hawaii)'s summer audition with the New Jersey Nets was, well, a short one.
The veteran point guard played in three of the team's Orlando Pro Summer League games last week, helping the Nets post a 4-1 record. He was on the court for 8 minutes, 46 seconds in that span.
Tabuse, the former BYU-Hawaii standout and the first Japanese to play in the NBA, missed all six of his field-goal attempts in Orlando, including a pair of 3-pointers. Read more... |

| Yemen: Yemen U18 finish at 2-2 record - Aug.4, 2008 |
 | | Yemen improved to 2-1 record at the U18 WABA Championship. The hosts held off Lebanon 85:82 to climb to 2-1 record in the ladder. Yemen got to a better start of the game and led 23:20 after the starting frame. The hosts put up a brilliant performance in the second frame and stretched the margin to 13 points. Lebanon never recovered and suffered their third loss at the tournament.

The vice-president of Kazakhstan Basketball Federation said that the financing, which club was hoping to receive will come not this season, but for 2009-10 season.
